16 Character Counts-Citizenship “How can I show good citizenship, I’m just a kid?” Well, first of all, you are not “just” a kid, you are a capable, responsible young person who can help others in many ways. Have you looked into the Character Counts Community Service Award Program yet? This is a program where junior high and high school students work on different Pillars of Character and also participate in a variety of community service. Once completed, students earn an award at graduation and it’s something really impressive to put on your applications to colleges or employers. Interested? See Dr. Wilson in the main office for more information! Wilson, 2015

26 Character Counts-Citizenship Character Dilemma: What do you think? You and your friends decide to boycott a product. (To boycott means to refuse to buy or use it.) A few years ago, kids banded together across the country and boycotted a certain fast food chain that used styrofoam to package its hamburgers. Do you think it’s a good idea to boycott a product? What are some reasons that you should or shouldn’t? Could it show good Citizenship to boycott something? Wilson, 2015
