Electricity Unit 3 Electricity What is electricity and how can you transfer it? What is electric current and how does it flow?

Electricity What is electricity and how can you transfer it through circuits? Electricity- a form of energy that involves the movement of electrons. What are electrons? What are the other particles inside of an atom? What are their charges? (Read p. 297 in the dark blue workbook.)

Electricity - Electric Charge and Static Electricity Electric Charge Charges that are the same repel each other (repulsive force). Charges that are different attract each other (attractive force).

Electricity Comprehension Check 1.What is electricity? 2.Why do protons repel other protons but attract electrons?

Electricity - Electric Charge and Static Electricity Electric Field and Electric Force An electric field is a region around a charged object where the object’s electric force is exerted on other charged objects. ( What is force?)

Electricity What is electric force? Electric force is the attraction or repulsion (push or pull) between electric charges. The size/amount of electric force depends on 2 things: 1.The amount of charge on each object- the more electric charge, the greater the electric force between them. 2.The distance between the objects- The closer together the objects are, the greater the electric force.

Electricity Comprehension Check 1.What is the name of the area around all charged objects? 2.What is electric force? 3.True/False: The greater the distance between charged objects, the stronger the electric force.

Electricity Tuesday Warm Up- Review video Put in Science Explorer DVD to watch video on Electricity- preview, field trip, and assess.

Electricity - Electric Charge and Static Electricity Static Electricity Static electricity is a form of electricity in which electrons collect/gather on the surface of an object. What is the electric field and electric force?

Electricity Static Electricity Read p. 301 in the dark blue textbook.

Electricity Static Electricity What does “static” mean? (p. 685) In static electricity, electric charges build up on an object, but they do not flow or move. What are examples of static electricity?

Electricity Lightning Click the Video button to watch a movie about lightning. - Electric Charge and Static Electricity

Electricity Comprehension Check: 1.If an object gains electrons, what is the overall charge of the object? 2.The buildup of electric charges on an object is called _____________. 3.How does static electricity build up in cloud?
