3 Prescription Writer Step 1b Select patient Select icon from tool bar
*For Emergency Department use only Select patient Select icon from tool bar Add a prescription select Use smart search field to type the name of medication/s Please remember to select Full catalog to search for all medications also Requested by field me should be selected.

4 Manage Pharmacies Step 2 Select default pharmacy Search
pharmacy by name Confirm pharmacy with patient or family Select Pharmacy type (Retail Pharmacy) Patients may have multiple pharmacies that they use please confirm with the patient or family member before submitting the prescription. If no pharmacy is displayed one can be easily added by using the search function of the system Select pharmacy type retail or mail order Type in the name of the pharmacy then click on search button Select desired pharmacy.

5 If pharmacy rejects or questions prescription
If pharmacy rejects or questions prescription. Message will be sent to Inbox If you send prescription to wrong pharmacy or if patient wants to change, after it has been sent electronically. You must call pharmacy and advise of error/change. A pharmacy cannot forward prescription to a different pharmacy. There is no way to stop an e-script once it has been sent/transmitted. A direct call must be made.

6 Pharmacy Search CS indicates
Select CS Pharmacy CS indicates that the pharmacy is able to accept controlled substances via e-submit To search for one, follow the normal Pharmacy search workflow in Rx Writer. Note the Red CS and the Blue SS triangle icon beside each CS pharmacy.

7 CS to Non-CS Rx If Non-CS pharmacy is selected submit method will default to print If multiple Rx’s that are Non-CS Rx it will be e-Submitted If a non-CS Pharmacy is selected, then the Submit method defaults to “Print”

8 Check Rx Eligibility Step 3
If ineligible status, insurance information may not be available. If eligible status may suggest a generic alternative. Provider will still be able to e-Submit regardless of status. If insurance eligibility is a concern If information has not been entered it will not be available

9 Enter Prescription Step 4 Enter prescription
Select Add to list to continue adding medications Review and Submit when completed Select Controlled Substance - Nuvigil Then they select a controlled substance (e.g., Nuvgil) Review and Submit

10 Prescription Alert Step 5 If medication is duplicate
There is a drug interaction Allergy Acknowledge Alerts They Acknowledge Rx Alerts (if any).

11 Review Prescriptions Step 6 Review prescriptions Review pharmacy
e-Submit e-Submit e-Submit will be defaulted on the drop down. Apply e-Submit button Pharmacy will be preceded by CS in red indicating pharmacy can accept controlled substances via e prescribing. Submit

12 EPCS Step 7 Confirm CS Sign Now
Non CS will be e-Submitted before CS will be sent Confirm Provider taken to the EPCS Confirmation window. **– If non-Controlled Substance and Controlled Substance Rx’s are submitted in the same session, the non-CS Rx’s will be eSubmitted before this window and the CS Rx’s appear in this window. If ordering cs along with cs Note the Confirm Checkbox and the Sign Now button. Note also that the following are displayed – Patient name, dob and gender DEA number Provider name and address Pharmacy name, address, and phone # Controlled substance info. Sign Now

13 Authenticate Step 8 Enter Allscripts password
Using key fob or (smart phone app) generate OTP A new OTP will generate every 60 seconds each time the button is pressed Authenticate Enter 1st Factor Password Enter 2nd Factor OTP Password

14 Medication Summary Step 9 Status of medication by e-submit.
To view please check More Details and Pharmacy fields. Review the transmitted Scheduled Drug Check box More Details
