3 W HAT YEAR DID YOUR PARK BECOME A NATIONAL PARK AND WHY ? It became a national park in 1915, because it had beautiful nature but still held many cultural treasures including ancient trails, game drives, cattle ranches, and lodges.

4 H OW WAS THE PARKED FORMED ? According to this theory, the surface of the Earth is made up of a series of plates, each of which move relative to the others. At one time, all the continents were joined into one large land mass known as Pangea. Slowly, this supercontinent began to break apart and the continents began to drift. The plates eventually began to collide with one and Periods of mountain was built. This is how the Rocky Mountains were built.

5 W HAT TYPES OF ROCKS CAN BE FOUND IN YOUR PARK ? You can find volcanic rocks sedimentary rock Igneous rocks and metamorphic rocks in the Rocky Mountains.

6 W HAT SPECIAL LAND FORMS CAN BE FOUND IN YOUR NATIONAL PARK ? The Canadian part of the rocky mountains include Rockies include the Mackenzie and Selwyn mountains of the Yukon and northwest territories and the bow river. Also a variety of animals such as bighorn sheep bears deer's and more.

7 H OW IS YOUR PARK CURRENTLY CHANGING ? The temperature is currently changing. Natural habitats are currently coming in to the rocky mountains along with plants.

8 W HAT ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES ARE AFFECTING YOUR PARK ? Serious problems have arisen as a result of timber harvesting, grazing, oil exploration, mining, and reservoir operations in the Rockies'. Logging and oil exploration have been responsible for accelerated slope erosion, both from the operations themselves.

9 H OW IS TECHNOLOGY USED TO HELP PRESERVE AND MAINTAIN YOUR PARK ? Technology is used to discover and understand the impacts of climate change land use change and invasive species.
