Rocky Mountain National Park Environmental Issues Serious problems have arisen as a result of timber harvesting, grazing, oil exploration, mining, and reservoir operations in the Rockies. logging and oil exploration have been responsible for accelerated slope erosion There are also problems with infestations such as the “pine beetle epidemic” killing acres of trees
