3 The new practice DESCRIPTION OF NEW PRACTICE  Re-introduction of an immunization legislation to capture other critical elements missing with respect to government commitment to increasing immunization budgetary support. PROBLEMS ADDRESSED BY NEW PRACTICE Delay in the ratification and amendment to the draft Immunization Law IDENTIFICATION OF PROBLEM Review of other countries immunization legislation revealed that the was no clause on immunization financing in the draft law IMPORTANCE OF PROBLEM This process is important as it commits the Government of Liberia to take full charge of its immunization programme through sustain immunization financing DURATION OF NEW PRACTICE Since 2013 – To date

4 The new practice INSTITUTIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED Ministry of Health/ EPI Senate Health Committee House Health Committee Parliamentary Forum on Immunization Other line ministries and agencies Immunization Health Partners (e.g. WHO, UNICEF, CDC, USAID) ACTIVITIES/ INTERVENTIONS/ INPUTS Revision of the draft law for immunization Intensification of advocacy efforts with the Senate for the speedy passage of the new bill. Follow up to ensure that after Senate passes the new bill, it is approved and signed by the President Follow up on implementation of the clauses in the new bill
