1 Wednesday 5/18 Learning Goal: Explain how the cardiovascular system functions as the transport system of the body. Warm up: When blood enters the Left Ventricle, it is _____ in oxygen because blood is coming from the ______. Homework: Finish classwork if needed (p. 26-31)

2 Circulatory System (Cardiovascular) Aorta - Distributes oxygen rich blood to the body Left Atrium - Receives oxygen rich blood from the lungs Right Atrium - Receives oxygen poor blood from the body Valve - Opens and closes so blood only flows one way through the heart

3 Circulatory System (Cardiovascular) Left Ventricle - Pumps oxygen rich blood out through the aorta Septum - Separates the ventricles to prevent oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood from mixing Right Ventricle - Pumps oxygen poor blood to the lungs
