3 Blood Vessels Your body has three kinds of blood vessels- arteries, capillaries, and veins. Arteries- carry blood away from heart Capillaries- tiny narrow vessels Veins- carry blood back to the heart

5 Pattern of Blood Flow Blood flow in your body is like a figure 8 Your heart is the center of the 8 In your first loop- blood travels from the heart to the lungs and back to the heart In the second loop- blood is pumped from the heart to the body and back to the heart

7 Loop One What characteristics does blood have in the right atrium? What color would the blood be then? Where would the blood travel to in the heart after the right atrium? Where will the blood go to pick up fresh oxygen?

8 Loop Two What characteristics does blood have in the left atrium? What color would the blood be then? Where would the blood travel to in the heart after the left atrium? What is so special about the aorta?

9 Fun Facts Blood only travels in one direction It takes about 1 minute for blood to make a complete trip starting at your heart and arriving back …and of course science is the best
