What do you think?  -Athlete—football player, swimmer  Physically fit  Fast  Healthy  Definition: Health— combination of physical, mental/emotional, and social well-being  People who have bad self-esteem, can’t get along with others also are important characteristics for health  Life full of choices— healthy and unhealthy Examples of both—

4  B. The Health Triangle: 3 sides—physical, mental/emotional, and social  all are interrelated—can cause stress, physical sickness, social and motional isolation  C. Maintaining a Balance:  Must balance each of the 3 sides— to become a healthy person Problems in one area creates problems and difficulties throughout lifetime.  Examples from class—movie stars, family, friends,

5 D. What is Wellness? Wellness—overall state of well-being, or total health of YOU!!  Fruits, exercise, (saying no to drugs, alcohol, sex and other dangerous activities), positive friends, education
