Born April,1965 in Fort Worth, Texas Has been arrested several of times Drug infractions Violence (Such as Beating his wife) Motoring Offenses

March 3 rd 1991 Driving down 210 freeway in LA around midnight, he was caught by highway patrol He did not want to violate his probation (for robbery) so he than lead them on a high speed chase When caught, police than decided King was resisting arrest and had drugs in his system (He didn’t) He was than hit over 50 times and was hit twice with a taser gun He was sent to jail and waited sentencing BUT……

A top officer in the police academy Has probably the brightest future out of any officer Swung his baton over 40 times at King saying he felt attacked because King had a drug that makes me people go crazy

Rookie cop on the force Working his 3 rd day along the car with Powell Kicked king 6 times and stroked him with his baton also As the others were dropping back he would keep on attacking. Also said King attacked him

Charged with excessive force while working before Only stomped king once, telling him to stay down, that way the other officers would stop It didn’t!

Seemed like an open and shut case 92% of Americans (Including Whites) found all 4 men guilty Feb 3 1992 – The trial begins in East Venture Courthouse in Simi Valley March 2 nd - Jury contains 10 whites, 1 Hispanic and 1 Filipino April 29 th - at 3:15 pm all 4 men are acquitted of all charges due to lack of evidence and because it was self defense

Next day Bush announces Department of Justice to investigate filing charges on officers for violating Kings civil rights August 4 th - Jury returns August 4 th 1993 (A year later)- Judge Dawes orders Powell and Koon to 30 months in correctional camp (Wind and Briseno get nothing) April 19 th 1993- King is awarded 3.8 billion dollars in damages June 1 st - Civil trial against officers ends up awarding $0 to Rodney King.
