3 3 1.Transformed Minerals Sector (Stakeholder) Promote Health and Safety Percentage reduction in Occupational injuries, fatalities, diseases and dangerous occurrences. –20% improvement per annum. Conduct investigations and enquiries. Conduct qualitative inspections and audits. Implement OHS Strategy. Implement enforcement guidelines. Disseminate OHS information Review legislative framework.

4 4 2.Sufficient and relevant skills in the mining sector (stakeholder) Contribute to skills development Percentage of certificates of competency issued. –Increase of 10% per annum Engage with Mining Qualifications Authority and other stakeholders to ensure proper accreditation of service providers.

5 5 3. Efficient, efficient and development-oriented department (internal processes) Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) Number of SLAs implemented (2); Implement and monitor SLAs. Percentage adherence to SLAs (100%). Monitor and report on progress. Develop and review internal processes Percentage of identified internal processes developed, implemented and reviewed (100%). Develop, implement and review policies, procedures and guidelines. Improved turnaround times Percentage improvement in adherence to prescribed timeframes (80%). Track and monitor finalisation of actions.

6 6 MHSI Capacity Building DMR initiated process of restructuring the Inspectorate to enhance our capacity to enforce the provisions of the Mine Health and Safety Act. The North West MHSI Rustenburg and Klerksdorp offices to be independently capacitated to ensure effective mines coverage. Finalizing process for filling Health unit chief director and directors posts to advance the focus on occupational health matters. The learner inspectors programme has assisted with improving the vacancy rate in the regions.
