3 When is a student likely to perform ordinary classwork in English? Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education 3 A Massachusetts ELL should be considered for reclassification when ACCESS for ELLs results are:  Overall score of Level 5.0 Also be aware that…  ACCESS for ELLs test results alone should not be used as the sole factor in determining English proficiency.  Other indicators to supplement ACCESS results include:  Observations by, and the judgment of, teachers  Student’s classwork  MCAS and other locally-administered test results  Additional information can be found in the Guidance on Identification, Assessment, Placement, and Reclassification of English Language Learners at http://www.doe.mass.edu/ell/guidance_laws.html http://www.doe.mass.edu/ell/guidance_laws.html
