1 How useful are your notes on the Liberal landslide? Will your notes help you quickly and easily find three reasons to answer each question? Why did the Liberals win the 1906 election? Why were the Conservatives a weak political force in 1906? Why was the Liberal Party so attractive to voters in 1906? Why were economic issues so important in the 1906 election?

4 Part a questions Always ask you to explain why Worth 12 marks (in the exam you would have 10 minutes to write your answer) Focus of question can be narrow, requires very precise knowledge (especially chronology) Requires a proper understanding of the topic to effectively link the reasons together. You cannot just memorise facts THE RULE OF 3 – the technique is to explain 3 reasons in 3 separate paragraphs, plus a conclusion paragraph at the end

May not be full or comprehensive Answers are mostly clearly expressed and show some organisation of information Answers are well- focussed on the question Identify a wide range of specific explanations, backed by precise evidence Demonstrate good understandings of the connections and links between events or issues Answers are mostly well-written and organised
