1 Pros and Cons of Technology in the Classroom By: Dana Pentenburg, DeVon Sanders, Justin Wicker

2 Technology means the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science. Definition of Technology

3 Technology usage in Grades k-12 We started using technology in the classroom as early as the 1700s. T.v’s were the earliest form of technology in the classroom, since computers were not fully developed. 1954 General Electric bought the first of the computers. Late 1958 the National Defense Education act brought more money into the schools systems so they could get more technology. Then in 1963 the Vocational Education Act added even more money to schools in. So right now in today’s society the technology usage in the classsroom has expanded from adding computers, wiki boards, ipads etc.

4 In a special needs classroom it would benefit everyone because the students get to go at their own pace and the teacher gets to accomplish more. Grants can be earned and given out to students so they can use technology. Also it can provide job opportunities in their future careers. With computers teachers can take advantage because they can copy student records, write lesson plans, and communicate with teachers more efficiently. Pros of Technology

5 Cons of Technology Technology can be very expensive and the training for learning how to do things with technology takes a massive amount of time, not just for the teacher but the students as well. Every two or three years schools would have to get new computers so they don’t go out of date with the new technological advances. Inner city schools would mostly likely not be able to afford the technology.
