Body Language What are you saying???
2
What is body language? We communicate a lot without even opening our mouths. Think about what these people are saying:

Body Language and Public Speaking In any presentation, a great part of your message is nonverbal. The audience sees your body language, your eye and hand movements, how tall you stand, how you move, the strength and tone of your voice instantly, even before you have spoken your first sentence.
4
1. Eye Contact Be sure to keep eye contact during the speech. Do not look only down, or stare at the ceiling. Many inexperienced speakers look up at the ceiling when they have memorized a speech and can't remember a line. Some speakers only look to one side of the room, in the direction of the teacher or a friend. Instead, you should look slowly from side to side, to make eye contact with the whole audience.
5
2. Posture Think about how you want to stand during your speech. You want to look confident (even if you are not!)
6
3. Gestures Move your hands in a natural way like you do when you are talking in real life. Some common gestures you can use are counting, contrasting things with 2 hands etc. *Be careful of DISTRACTING gestures like playing with your clothes or hair.

4. Actions How you move your body is also important. Remember the teacher trick of moving around the space so your audience follows you? You can use that trick as well. Also make sure you don’t tap your feet, twirl your hair or do other distracting things during your speech…sometimes we don’t know we do these things so practice in front of a friend or family member and ask them to tell you if you make any distracting motions.

Main things to remember… 1.Use eye contact…try to look at everyone in the room 2.Posture…stand up straight and confidently 3.Gestures…use your hands naturally 4.Actions…you can move around and don’t make distracting gestures.
