Everyone who sins is breaking God's law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God. 1 John 3:4

FALSE BELIEFS ABOUT RIGHT AND WRONG 1)I’m not a bad person. 8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 1 John 1:8-9

FALSE BELIEFS ABOUT RIGHT AND WRONG 2)You have no right to tell me how to live.

FALSE BELIEFS ABOUT RIGHT AND WRONG 3)I can justify doing anything I want to do.

28 Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents.

31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. 32 They know God's justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too. Romans 1:28-32

Relativism – assumption that there is no such thing as absolute truth. Subjectivism -, the subject, have the right to determine what is right and wrong without submitting to any authority outside myself.

FALSE BELIEFS ABOUT RIGHT AND WRONG 4)All sin is the same. 47 "And a servant who knows what the master wants, but isn't prepared and doesn't carry out those instructions, will be severely punished. 48 But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required. Luke 12:47-48

46 "Beware of these teachers of religious law! For they like to parade around in flowing robes and love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces. And how they love the seats of honor in the synagogues and the head table at banquets. 47 Yet they shamelessly cheat widows out of their property and then pretend to be pious by making long prayers in public. Because of this, they will be severely punished.” Luke 20:46-47

Rewards in heaven. Punishment in hell. Consequences on earth.

FALSE BELIEFS ABOUT RIGHT AND WRONG 5)I’ve already sinned. I might as well continue. And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before. 2 Peter 2:20

HOW TO OVERCOME SIN 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. 1 John 1:9-10

Confess it. Keep evil desires in check. 14 Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. 15 These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. James 1:14-15
