2 Purpose:  To reflect on progress made since 2012 across five priority areas: community fluoridation, dental home, oral health literacy, statewide surveillance system, and integrating oral health into elder services.  To build alignment on our work in Texas with the vision, goals and targets of the OH 2020 Movement

3 Introduce yourself by describing:  What brought you into the work of oral health?  What is the most inspiring change that you are seeing in the work today?

4 Desired Outcomes By the end of the day we will have:  An opportunity to connect, learn and plan together  A shared understanding of the progress made and challenges remaining in the implementation of the TxOHC 2012 priorities  An update on oral health workforce issues  A shared understanding of the drivng forces of inequity and oral health as a social justice issue  A shared understanding of the Oral Health 2020 Network:  Systems change framework,  Network building approach, and  Vision, goals and targets  An opportunity to coordinate and align our work in Texas with the OH 2020 Movement  A list of recommendations and actions to be taken in 2017/2017 by the TxOHC

11 Oral Health as a Social Justice Issue  Everyone should have the same opportunities to live a healthy life.  A person in poor oral health is not healthy.  Nobody should suffer from a chronic disease that is completely preventable.  Until we all have an equal opportunity to live happy and healthy lives, we will live in an unjust society.  It’s our responsibility to advocate for and mobilize the many who don’t have access to oral health care and prevention.
