W HO ARE WE ? We are the parents and siblings of students in drama classes, the Drama Club, and all of the many productions performed on the LVHS stage We are the actors and tech crew contributing towards the success of our plays and musicals We are the teachers and directors that dedicate our time to teaching and mentoring our students

W HAT IS OUR GOAL ? To support the director, cast, crew and students of the Loudoun Valley Drama Department To provide volunteer hours and funding for the LVHS Players To use that funding to improve the program Printing programs, banners and posters for productions Ensuring kids are fed and watered during Tech Week Providing educational opportunities for drama kids such as the New York Trip, VTA(Name of production), VHSL(Name of production), etc. Purchase of new systems for the drama program. This year we would like to fund the purchase of a new sound system, drop screen, etc., etc.

W HAT DO WE DO ? Fundraising - All of the money we make gets turned back into sustaining the drama program. We fundraise through working with local businesses, selling concessions, advertising in our production programs, and many other areas Provide concessions and volunteer support for the Movie Nights, Showcases, Open Mics and Comedy Cult performances Participate in the Cappies Program - Cappies is the equivalent of the High School Tony awards. Student critics evaluate performances and write critiques that are published in many local papers, including the Washington Post. At the end of the season winners in various categories are announced at a gala held at the Kennedy Center. Valley has participated for 3 years, and has garnered numerous nominations and awards each of those years. Provide elementary and middle school drama camps, reaching out to the community and developing young thespians Chaperone trips to NY City, VTA, VHSL and other trips taken for competition purposes Ultimately, we support our kids!

Dedicate whatever time you can to assist. Marketing and Publicity - This is an important part of the production process. We arrange for the town sign at main street, advertise in local papers, display banners, announce the production on the LVHS and community websites, and many other activities. We also create and print the program and poster for each production. Front of the House - Front of the house activities include selling tickets, concessions, actor notes and flowers, and distribution of programs and ushering during the show. Tech Week Dinner - Cast members and Technical Crew must be at the school until up to 10:00 PM during the final week before the show. The parents feed and water our children and teachers. This activity requires getting contributions from local restaurants, collecting food and supplies, providing dishes, serving and cleaning up the meals to our thespians. Elementary and Middle School Camps - We hold an Elementary School Camp and a Middle School Camp during teacher workdays over the course of the year. Each camp lasts a full work day, and is primarily staffed by the students. This benefits the students as volunteer hours count towards paying for the NY Trip and is a major fund raiser for the Drama Program. We need parent volunteers to provide some adult oversight for these camps and to assist with planning and marketing. Props - Props are the small portable objects used in our performances, such as the crossbow and dead rubber chicken in The Addams Family. We need assistance in finding and building props for our shows.

H OW CAN YOU HELP, CONTINUED Makeup - Every show requires makeup for each performer. The level and complexity of the makeup depends on each show. Costumes - Costumes can be as simple as finding outfits at local thrift shops to designing and sewing our own costumes. Each production tends to have a combination of both. We need individuals who can help us find or sew the appropriate costumes, and organize the costumes we have collected. Movie Night, Open Mic Night, Showcase, Comedy Cult - Concessions - We regularly provide free movies, Open Mic Night, and various performances to students and the general public over the course of each year. We need food donations, and volunteers to spend a couple of hours making popcorn, and selling concessions. Cappies Dinner - We will host the Cappies Critics during the run of the 3 Musketeers, serving them dinner and providing them with a comfortable, entertaining environment within which to discuss our production. We will need volunteers to cook, decorate, and clean up after the evening. Donate Funds – We love to have your volunteer hours. But we also understand that there are those that simply don't have the time, but wish to contribute in other ways to the program. Your funds are always welcome! Donate Concessions - We sell concessions during Movie Nights, Open Mic Nights, and all performances. We need candy, single serving chips, sodas and waters all year long. Any contributions you can make helps us fund our program. Hit the sales and bring your contribution to the Black Box. We will take it from there!
