Zeus Roman name- Jupiter, Jove Greek name- Zeus Parents- Kronos and Rhea Sphere of influence- most of Greece and Rome worshipped him, and he controlled the gods and Olympus Attributes- Lighting bolt, royal scepter, and eagle Birthplace- Diktaion cave, Crete

Zeus pictures Pre- 476 A.D. picture ca 480 BC I chose this picture for many reasons. The first reason was that it clearly shows Zeus’s two most known attributes the lightning bolt and his scepter. It also shows Zeus as many have described his appearance, average height and bearded. Also it looks like the painter really knew Zeus, like he’s really there. Those are the reasons I chose this picture. Post-1400 A.D. picture The reasons I chose this picture are as follows. I felt like my first choice it displayed Zeus’s greatest attributes the lightning bolt, and in this instance the eagle. Also it was a nice contrast to the first in that he looked very powerful, a little older, and much more like what I think of a god. It also, I thought, showed more of what Zeus would look like in modern day instead of in ancient times like in the first picture. That is why I chose this picture.

Hades Greek names- Hades, Ades, and Aidoneus Roman name- Dis Pluto Parents- Kronos and Rhea Sphere of Influence- controlled the under world Attributes- Key of Hades and Cerberus Birthplace- island of Crete

Hades pictures Pre-476 A.D. picturePost-1400 A.D. picture ca 330 - 310 BC This picture was my choice for various reasons. The first reason is that it showed Hades as many have described him, he looks a lot like his brothers except his hair was forward on his head. Also it showed him on his throne and he’s holding his royal scepter. My last reason was that it really looked like it was painted in hell like you were there. It made me feel like I was about to be judged to get into Elysium. Those are my reasons for selecting this picture. My reasons for choosing this picture were slightly different from my previous picture. First of all this pictured showed Hades in a more youthful light and he is a warrior. Secondly because of his outfit and accessories I feel like he is about to bring a couple of other people to his home ( the underworld). Finally this picture is showing one of his attributes, Cerberus, the three headed dog. That is why I chose this picture

Poseidon Greek name- Poseidon Roman names- Neptunus and Neptune Parents- Kronos and Rhea Sphere of Influence- Ruler of the sea Attributes- the dolphin, the horse, and the trident Birthplace- town of Mantineia, Crete

Poseidon Pictures Pre-476 A.D. picture Post-1400 A.D. picture I chose this picture for some contrasting reasons to my first. In this picture he still obviously has the trident but in this one he also is shown more as the king of the sea. Secondly in this one it still shows him looking like Zeus but it gives him a better image, more like a god, than the first. Finally I feel like this picture makes him, even if he seems older, more current. Like he’s about to punish us, the human race, for polluting his sea, instead of trying to lead Columbus to America with the tide. That’s why I chose this picture. ca 480 BC This picture was my choice for many reasons. My first reason was that obviously it shows his most widely known attribute his trident. Another reason was that it showed his historically portrayed image, an exact copy of Zeus except not as great. My last reason was the whole scene itself made me wonder what he is doing and what he just did. Is he about to make an important decision? Is that why he is at the throne? That is why I chose this painting.

Hestia Greek name- Hestia Roman name- Vesta Parents- Kronos and Rhea Sphere of Influence- Hearth and home Attributes- flowered branch and a kettle Birthplace- Island of Crete

Hestia Pictures Pre-476 A.D.Post-1400 A.D. This picture of Hestia really made me feel like she was real. Aside from Greek and Roman historians most people don’t know who she is. This made me feel like she was really protecting my home. Also it is showing her guarding the hearth and it shows her attribute the kettle. My last reason was that this picture was very colorful and gave her an image that is now in my mind. That is why I chose this image. Unknown This image of Hestia was my selection because it showed her with one of her attributes the branch of flowers. Also it shows her in a scene that made me feel like she was protecting the safety of our homes. Also even though it did not show her as a beautiful goddess it still looks like she is given great respect. That is why I selected this image.

Hera Greek name- Hera Roman name- Juno Parents- Kronos and Rhea Sphere of Influence- Air, Sky & Heavens Attributes- Chariot, Clothing, Jewelry, cuckoo, hawk, and a royal lion Birthplace- Island of Crete

Hera Pictures Pre-476 A.D. ca 500 - 475 BC I chose this picture because it showed Hera with her attributes clothing and jewelry. Also as many have described her she is wearing a crown and holding a lotus-tipped staff. Another reason I chose this picture was that the cuckoo and or hawk was in the background. My final reason was that overall it was a just a beautiful picture, a great representation of an ancient goddess. That is why I chose this picture. Post-1400 A.D. This picture was my choice because it obviously shows a more modern goddess of marriage, a present representation of this deity. Also it shows her with her crown and feathers of the peacock. My final reason is that it shows her in a beautiful dress with jewelry as she is portrayed. Those are my reasons for choosing this picture.
