2 + CSIP Plan 3 areas – which we changed to 4 Literacy STEM Math Science PBIS

3 + Literacy Problem Statement: Only 63% of students were proficient on the Language Arts SAGE in 2014-2015. Performance Goal(s): A strategy for improvement is to provide targeted instruction in thesis development and utilization of textual evidence in student essay writing. This will be completed through the Language Arts and Social Studies classes, and measured formatively by Common Formative Assessments (CFAs) in Language Arts and Social Studies classes, and summatively through the Language Arts SAGE in 2016-2017. This goal will be met when at least 70% or more students are proficient on the Language Arts SAGE in 2015-2017.

4 + STEM - Math Problem Statement: 650 students out of 1,423 were not proficient on 2015 SAGE Tests. We believe the problem is a result of lack of background knowledge and teacher effectiveness. A strategy for improvement is implementing Math Lab, which will provide opportunities for automaticity, development of mathematical schema, and small group explicit instruction. In addition, we will provide for instructional coaching to help improve teaching strategies. Performance Goal(s): 60% of students will achieve proficiency on SAGE in Math. To achieve this, we will implement Math Lab, which will provide skill-based instruction and fill in background knowledge gaps. This will be measured by math CFA’s, 80% of students will have a 70% increase from the first district CFA to the second district CFA administered in January 2017. There will also be ongoing instructional coaching to improve instructional practices in the classroom by June 2017.

5 + STEM - Science Problem Statement: 395 students out of 1,445 were not proficient on the 2015 SAGE Test. We believe the problem is a result of a lack of support with SPED students and lack of background science knowledge for some students. A strategy for improvement is filling in the gaps in background knowledge by providing additional support for general and special education students, in small group instruction. Performance Goal(s): 75% of students will achieve proficient on SAGE in Science Tests. To achieve this goal, we will provide additional support for small group instruction. Progress will be measured by a cumulative assessment that will be administered 3 times a year.

6 + PBIS Problem Statement: As of February 23 rd in the 2015/2016- school year, 759 courage violations were given for class disruptions. This pattern is most common in the classroom increasing during 4 th, 5 th, and 6 th period. We believe the problem is a result of a desire for peer attention and task avoidance. A strategy for improvement is to provide greater support in the classroom for explicit instruction around routines, procedures, expectations, and transitions. Performance Goal(s): By the end of the 2016/2017 school year courage violations for class disruption will decrease by 10% through increasing resources for teachers, classroom support, staff training, accessibility to data, and explicit instruction of expectations to students.

9 + Literacy: At least 70% or more students are proficient on the Language Arts SAGE in 2016-2017 Measurements 80% of students will demonstrate 80% competency in thesis development and use of textual evidence as judged by the English and Social Studies Common Formative Assessments focus on measuring these two attributes. Action Plan Steps 1. All relevant members in the English and Social Studies departments will be given training and updates on the focus goal for the upcoming 2016-17 school year. 2. Discussion of the following scaffolds will occur regularly during core instruction planning: Explicit instruction in thesis creation, Explicit instruction in evidence techniques, Sentence framing scaffolds, Multiple opportunities to respond to instruction. 3. CFA’s will be read and evaluated according to a rubric developed to focus on Thesis creation and evidence supports in student written work. 4. Monies will be allocated for funding subs for teachers to grade rubrics, tabulate data, and compare results as well as collaborate on specific process to make instruction more explicit and scaffolds in place.

11 + Math: 60% of students will achieve proficiency on SAGE in Math. Math lab students will increase by an average of 25 points on the Sage 2016 to the Sage 2017 cut score. Measurements 80% of students will have a 70% increase from the first district CFA to the second district CFA administered in January 2017. Students in math lab will improve 30 topics each trimester from their initial assessment on ALEKS. Action Plan Steps 1. Math labs will be created to give added opportunity for students to master math content, both remedial and current year. 2. Teachers to observe other schools implementation of Math Labs to implement program effectively with changes as needed for the program to suit the school goals. 3. All relevant members in the Math department will be will be informed of math goals for the upcoming school year. 4. Math teachers will implement a variety of scaffolds and explicit instruction to help all students access the curriculum. 5. Math lab students will be identified in 1 of 2 ways: 1) Self-identification or 2) Sage scores will be examined and selection will be based on which students are a level to an most likely to increase 25 points or more given the extra support. This will be determined by the rate of improvement they have been making in prior years to the current point.

12 + Math: 60% of students will achieve proficiency on SAGE in Math. Math lab students will increase by an average of 25 points on the Sage 2016 to the Sage 2017 cut score. Action Plan Steps 6. Math lab students will be placed into math labs according to these two priorities 1) Prior request and 2) Acceptance of invitation to math lab by school staff assigned over placement into this intervention. 7.Team-wide, structure time for weekly small group explicit instruction. 8.PD provided in skills-based instructional strategies. 9. Access to outside PD to allow for increased strategies for differentiation with an emphasis to share out in these skills.
