3 Workspace The Workspace Is Divided Into 4 Main Areas 1 Source: Area To View And Adjust Source Clip 2 Program: Area To View Edits To Sequence 3 Media Browser: List Of Imported Media 4 Timeline: Area To Trim Sequence, Move Layers, Add Effects, Etc.

5 Import Files Drag and Drop from a folder “File” “Import” then select files Drag Clips From Media Browser To Timeline To Create Sequence Drag Clips From Media Browser To Source To Check Clip

6 Project Management Once A Sequence Is Started Set Up The Project To Be Saved Save Early! Save Often!!! Go To: “File” Then “Project Manager…” Click “Collect Files And Copy To New Location” Pick A Folder Unclick “Exclude Unused Clips”

8 Edit Sequence Helpful Navigation Shortcuts Spacebar To Play/Pause “K” To Stop Left and Right Arrow Keys To Move Frame By Frame “J” And “L” To Rewind And Fast Forward. Track Moves Faster With Each Press. “=“ And “-” Zoom In And Zoom Out On Timeline, or Selected Area

9 Edit Sequence Trim: Make Cuts In The Timeline Navigate To Start Of Cut Use Blade Tool To “Cut” Select Razor Blade or Type “C” Navigate To End Of Cut Use Blade Tool To “Cut” Switch To Selection Tool Arrow Tool or Type “V” Delete Any Unwanted Portions Of Clip

10 Create A Loop 1 Select Clip “Cloud Loop Raw” Drag And Drop To Timeline Look At Clip Find The Middle Of The Clip Cut The Clip In The Middle Rearrange 2 nd Half Of Clip To The Start Of Timeline 1 st Half After 2 nd

11 Create A Loop 1 Look At Clip Again Note The Jump Between 2 nd and 1 st Select “Effects” “Video Transitions” “Dissolve” “Cross Dissolve” Drag “Cross Dissolve” Onto Clip Make Adjustments

12 Create A Loop 2 Select Clip “Loop 1 Raw” Drag And Drop To Timeline Look At Clip Navigate To The End Of The Clip Copy The Entire Clip And Paste To The Timeline After The First Clip

13 Create A Loop 2 Select The Second Clip Right Click And Select “Speed Duration” Click “Reverse Speed” Watch Clip

14 Export Sequence Export To A Video File Go To: “File” Then “Export” Select “Media” Then Stop And Think A Bit…

16 Video Files: “Container” Files.mov,.avi,.mp4 etc. Container Holds Audio And Video Information Codec: Coder/Decoder Software That Encodes Video File Playback Computer Must Have The Ability To Decode The File

17 Export Sequence Codecs: Uncompressed: Apple Pro Res 4:2:2 Larger File Size Great For Editing Compressed: H.264, Mpeg Smaller File Size Not Always Great For Editing

18 Export Sequence Codecs: Compressed: H.264 Options For Bit Rate Variable Bit Rate Constant Bit Rate Playback Computer Will Use Software Or Hardware To Decode Software: Processor Speed Will Determine Speed/Quality Hardware: Video Card Will Determine Speed/Quality

19 Export Sequence Not All Container Files Are Created Equal Containers Can Hold Files Encoded With Different Codecs Always Test Files With Playback System To Ensure Compatibility!

20 Export Sequence Click On “Format” Menu Select H.264 Click On “Preset” Menu Select “Match Source” High or Medium Scroll Down To Output Name Name File And Select Where To Save
