Fall 2010 Society Bylaws Amendments ***Proposed*** Disclaimer: All text contained in these slides is still under review by the bylaws committee and SWE’s parliamentarian. Official bylaws motions will be posted by September 22 nd 2010.

Scope of Notice During the meeting, amendments to the amendments can be made from the floor as long as they are within scope, aka wording falls in between existing bylaws and text of the motion as posted at 45 day notice. Proposal #TitleArticleSectionProposed by: S110TBDRegion Officers Voting VI3.C.Region A Senator + 4 members Current Language:Proposed Changes:If adopted: The officers and senators of the region shall be nonvoting members of the region council with the right to participate in the discussions of the council but shall retain their voting status if they are also representatives. Comments: Removes from Society bylaws with stipulation that it be added in the Region bylaws template but with options on whether region officers are voting members of the region council or not. Proposed Motion: Rewording of Membership Rights Article affected: Article II. Section 1. Proposed by: Bylaws Committee Intent: Clarify “all rights of membership” especially for associate members in relation to the wording of other member grades. No content change, just re- wording. Exact wording still to be nailed down. Under Review

Proposed Motion: Add Collegiate Director to BOD Article affected: Article IV. Section 1-9. Proposed by: FY10 BOD Intent: Make the temporary collegiate board rep into a permanent and full voting member of the board. Duties, election/appointment, and eligibility to remain as currently is for collegiate rep. It’s a 1 year term. Exact wording still to be nailed down. Under Review

Proposed Motion: Collegiate Candidacy Rights Article affected: Article II. Section 1.D.2. Proposed by: Senator + 4 Intent: Allow collegiate members to run for a professional section/region/MAL officer position if they will be a member of that subordinate unit at the start of their term of office. Would require special approval to run (i.e. by governor) Exact wording still to be nailed down. Under Review

Proposed Motion: Rules for Disbanding Committees Article affected: Article X. Section 1 Proposed by: Senator + 4 Intent: Creates requirement for board to follow if they want to disband a committee such as giving notice and the opportunity for the committee to be heard, requiring a 2/3 vote of the board, and additional preliminary stipulations. Exact wording still to be nailed down. Under Review

Proposed Motion: Senate Speaker Eligibility Requirements Article affected: Article IV. Section 4.B.2 Proposed by: Senator + 4 Intent: Widens the list or required service needed to be a candidate for speaker and deputy speaker. Proposal would add Society committee chair, board of directors and region governor experience. Exact wording still to be nailed down. Under Review
