4. A dentist looks after our teeth. A dentist usually tells us not to eat too many sweet foods and drinks because they are bad for our teeth.

5. When we drink sugary drinks, microorganisms in our mouth can change the sugar into acids. Some drinks such as cola and lemonade are acidic and start to attack our teeth immediately. This causes tooth decay.

6. We need to look after our teeth because when we have our adult teeth, we do not grow any more teeth. We use our teeth to chew our food so we can digest it more easily. Without teeth we would have to eat liquid food. Also, teeth help us speak.

7. We have 20 baby teeth. We start to grow our adult teeth at about six years old and we lose our baby teeth. We have 32 adult teeth.
