Multiplying and Dividing Decimals and Fractions By: Karin, Angelica, Alayna
2
Multiplying decimals Steps to Multiply Decimals 1.Line up the numbers on the right - do not align the decimal points. 2.Starting on the right, multiply each digit in the top number by each digit in the bottom number, just as with whole numbers. 3.Add the products.
3
Multiplying fractions Steps to Multiply Fractions 1.Simplify the fractions if not in lowest terms. 2.Multiply the numerators of the fractions to get the new numerator. 3.Multiply the denominators of the fractions to get the new denominator 2 x 3/7 = 2 x 3/7 = 6/7
4
Dividing Decimals Steps to dividing Decimals 1.If the divisor is not a whole number, move decimal point to right to make it a whole number and move decimal point in dividend the same number of places. 2.Divide as usual.... 3.Put decimal point directly above decimal point in the dividend. 4.Check your answer.
5
Dividing Fractions Steps to dividing fractions 1.Turn the second fraction upside down 2. Change the division sign into a multiplication sign 3. Then multiply them 4. Simplify if needed

Multiplying and Dividing Decimals Practice Problems 1.If John runs 2.5 miles every day, how many miles will he run in a month of 30 days? 2.98.68 × 0.3 = ____ 3.4.75 ÷ 2.5 = ____ 4.12.01 × 0.46 = ____ 5.168.75 ÷ 6.75= ____ 6.Adeline has to read a 128.5 page d=book in 4.5 days. If she wants to pace herself to finish on time, how many pages does she need to read to finish the book in 4.5 days?
