10 INFORMING CAMPUS PRACTICES STARFISH EARLY ALERT “I’ve been Starfished!”  Students receiving flags before midterm were 8% more likely to complete their course successfully  Gateway math pass rates within first year increased by 4.3%  Gateway English pass rates within first year increased from 29.1% to 53.8%

14 EVOLUTION OF INITIATIVES MENTORING Faculty Mentoring  20 faculty identified by multiple students as natural mentors  These faculty led roundtable discussion with their colleagues on the qualities of their own mentoring styles  Some AAS programs held “meet and greets” prior to start of semester SOAR (Students on Academic Recovery) Mentoring  Required for students on academic probation  20 faculty and staff volunteers  Provide mentoring to students in developing and completing an academic recovery plan
