1 Year 4 Cuffley Camp Trip Wednesday 29 th June – Friday 1st July 2016

3 Cuffley Camp Outdoor Centre Where living outdoors is the experience!

4 Cuffley Camp is an Outdoor Centre set in 90 acres of outstanding woodland. Cuffley Camp provides a wide range of courses which create the opportunity for children to explore the outdoors through adventurous activities

5 Location Near Potters Bar. 45 minutes drive by coach. Site owned and run by Herts County Council.

6 Health and safety Site is surrounded by perimeter fence Barrier at main entrance All visitors must be arranged in advance Signing in/out procedure All adults on site must wear identity badges Adult/child ratio 1:10 On site activities are led by trained staff Risk assessments for all activities

7 Campsite There are 12 camping areas known as ‘villages’. The location of the villages is clearly marked on signposts all over the site. Each Grove class will have its own village. Each village also contains a large covered seating area, a shelter for firewood cooking, camp fire area and picnic tables.

8 Where do the children sleep? Classes will be in the villages made up of 6-8 tents, 2 staff cabins, overnight toilet, classroom shelter. Children will be able to request who they would like to share a tent with. During the activities the children will work in different groups.

9 Children’s Tents Pre-pitched tents! Troop tents: a spacious canvas tent sleeping about 6. Euro-style tents: These contain inner sleeping compartments and sleep 8.

10 Children’s Tents The tents have platforms at the base which raise the tent off the ground keeping it dry and help keeping it clean. Each child is provided with sleeping mattresses with ensuring that they have a dry and cosy night. All the tents are positioned close to the teachers’ huts. Each class has their own camping village which is exclusive for their use and is out of bounds for other groups. Solar Lights

13 Meals A cooked breakfast and evening meal are provided in the new dining room. The children will be provided with a packed lunch consisting of sandwiches, crisps, drinks and fruit. Children will choose from a range of sandwich fillings prior to the trip. Children will have cold drinks and snacks through the day and a hot or cold drink and biscuits in the evening. There is no need for the children to bring any additional snacks. Three substantial meals are provided and medical dietary requirements are catered for. (See OV7 form)

14 Lunch/ Dinner options Sandwiches – Cheese, Ham and Tomato, Tuna Mayo, Egg Mayo Wednesday dinner – Fish fingers Macaroni cheese Thursday dinner - Roast chicken Halal chicken Vegetable slice Hot breakfast – Meat or vegetarian option

15 Drinks and Snacks Children must have a named water bottle at all times in their day sac Water can be refilled from a tap on each site Children need a unbreakable mug to keep on the campsite BISCUITS donations 1 packet per child. Bring in the week before Cuffley Camp. NO NUTS / NO CHOCOLATE COATED Do not bring any personal snacks or sweets

17 Recreation Facilities We will take a range of games equipment. Children may take books, notebooks and cards for their spare time. We will also take ‘wet play’ equipment.

18 First Aid At least 2 members of staff are qualified First Aiders and the Cuffley Camp staff are all fully qualified.

21 Medication Completed medical forms (OV7) back to school by Thursday 9th June. We must be aware of any health / medical issues. Please remember to update the OV7 form with any changes. Medication in labelled box with lid and a photograph to be given to the class teacher on the morning of the trip or before. (Hayfever sufferers please let us know) Sign up list if you are happy for us to administer calpol / antihistimine / insect bite cream

24 Absolutely YES … Small cuddly toy Disposable camera Speak to any of the Year 4 team about anything which is important to you. Encourage children to help with packing and ticking off the list

25 Cost Final cost: £110 Original deposit £20. Balance £90 (Due after half term) Please speak to the office with any queries about the final payment.

26 Dates 2016 Wednesday 29 th June – Friday 1 st July Arrive at school normal Coach departs approx 9:30am Return Friday at approx 2:30pm (before the end of the school day)

27 On the day (Wednesday 29 th June) No school uniform Comfortable old clothes, long bottoms (No shorts), trainers. Arrive with daysac (water bottle, waterproof coat / trousers, sunhat) An old suitcase is best for packing clothes A laundry style bag great for bedding You will get details of which site for labels the week before the trip.

28 On the day continued Hand medical boxes to your class teacher Depending on the weather, we may leave luggage outside Children all come in to school first to register. On our return Please ensure that every child is ticked off the register when collected.
