4 Script The elements of a script include: A description of the set for each act/scene: ‘ A single table sits C.S with an old wooden seat behind this. U.S.L there are a handful of shopping bags on the floor. U.S.R there is a table with a family picture above this.’ Created by L McCarry

7 Script The elements of a script include: The inclusion of stage directions: Cinderella and Prince Charming smile sweetly at each other. Cinderella shyly says her line. They then move C.S to dance the Waltz. Created by L McCarry

8 Script The elements of a script include: Advice to actors on delivery of lines: Eric speaks in an American accent and with a loud volume. His tone should reflect his confidence. He should remove his glasses at the end of his line and give a full smile. Created by L McCarry

10 Directing Directing is the process of one person’s interpretation of a script or scenario and its realisation in performance, in conjunction with actors and design team members. Created by L McCarry

11 Directing Design concepts are a director’s ideas on how theatre arts can reflect and emphasise the themes and issues of a drama, its characters, mood, atmosphere and tension. Created by L McCarry

13 Script and Directing Revision Questions Complete the revision questions on paper or in WORD and email to your teacher for marking. Created by L McCarry

14 Script and Directing Revision Questions 1.Think of the recent stimulus drama that you have created. Write out the first three scenes as a script, using all of the details you learned about in the slides. 2.What do you think are important skills to have as a director and why? 3.Imagine you have been asked to direct a drama which starts in an office. Write your opening stage directions and set design ideas. 4.Write the first part of the dialogue for the characters and include advice on delivery of lines. 5.Think of how this drama may progress. Write a brief outline of this. 6.What Theatre Arts will be required in this drama and why? Created by L McCarry
