2 Dance Drama On the following slides you will find the movement terms associated with Dance Drama. It is important to learn and understand these. There are also examples of how to practically create these movement terms. Remember to also look back over the movement revision as many of those terms are also used in Dance Drama. 4 Dance Drama Locomotion: The travelling over the floor space in different ways. (e.g. stepping, running, hopping, skipping, gliding etc.) Created by L McCarry

5 Dance Drama Elevation: The height of a movement (e.g. hop, skip, jump or leap.) Created by L McCarry

6 Dance Drama Gesture: The movement of the head, hand, arms and the legs. Created by L McCarry

7 Dance Drama Movement patterns can be grouped into three types : Rising and sinking (e.g. low and high) Created by L McCarry

11 Dance Drama These past paper questions are suitable for all levels. 1.What is the name given to a style of movement which involves jumping, skipping or leaping? 2.Name the three movement patterns. 3.What is the name given to a style of movement which involves travelling over the floor space? 4.Describe one of the Dance Drama pieces that you created in class. What was the storyline? 5.What styles of movement and movement patterns did you use? Describe these. 6.Imagine you have been asked to create a Dance Drama from the stimulus ‘Conflict’. Briefly outline you storyline ideas. 7.Finally, write down your ideas for movement styles and patterns, giving specific examples of what you will use and when. Created by L McCarry
