5 Weather In The Rockies The Rocky Mountains have unpredictable weather which can change rapidly. As with other highland climates, the climate changes with increasing altitude. In general, the Rockies have mild summers, cold winters and a lot of precipitation. The Rockies have very different seasons.

7 Wildlife in the Rockies
Wildlife in the Rockies is surprisingly a lot even though there is really dangerous weathers. Most animals move further down the mountains during winter because they cannot survive the harsh conditions. The animals that do stay up either hibernate or have to hunt hard for food because the food is scarce.

8 Plant life in the Rockies
There are two main vegetation zones in the high mountains. meadow plants thrive above the forest. The two main vegetation zones are the alpines and conifers/evergreens. Conifers are well adapted for long cold winters and deep snow. Alpines hug the ground and come in small groups.

9 Population and Architecture
There are not many people who live in the Rockies. Human population is not very dense in the Rocky Mountains, with an average of four people per square kilometre and few cities with over 50,000 people. Here is a picture of a town and a few houses in the Rockies.
