PRESENTED BY : TAILOR SHIVOM R. (130180106117) GUIDED BY:- PROF. P.M BARIA GOVERNMENT ENGINEERING COLLEGE, DAHOD CIVIL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT ACTIVE LEARNING ASSIGMENT FLUID MECHANICS (2130602)

Consider a plane vertical surface immersed in a liquid as shown in figure. G = C.G of immersed surface P = Centre of pressure ℏ = Depth of C.G. of immersed surface from the liquid surface. = depth of centre of pressure from the liquid surface.

Total pressure on the surface Centre of pressure ( ): Where = M.I of area about an axis passing through the C.G of the area and parallel to the free surface of liquid

Problem 1: A circular plate 2m in diameter having a 0.5 m diameter circular hole at centroid of circular plate. It is immersed vertically in water with uppermost end of vertical diameters lies at depth of 1.0 m below free surface of water. Estimate total pressure and centre of pressure. ℏ = 1 + 1 = 2m =2.94 m 2 Solution:

Total pressure (F)

Centre of pressure A circular plate 2.5 m diameter have a square hole at its centroid. Plate immersed vertically in water such that lowermost extremity of its vertical diameter lies at depth of 4 m. The plate experiences total pressure of 91233 N. Estimate the size of hole. Problem 2: Solution:

Assume that the size of square is. F = 91233 N = 91.233 kN

 The size of hole is 1.235 m × 1.235 m

A circular plate of a 1m diameter has a circular hole in such a way that the plate and hole have same centre of gravity.Pressure of 8 kN is acting on one side of plate. If edge of vertically immersed surface is 0.6 m below the water surface, calculate diameter of hole. Problem 3: Solution:

Now,

An inverted triangular plate is having base parallel to water surface with width 1.6 m and height 2.10 m. It is submerged in water in such a way that its base is 1.0 m below free surface. Find centre of pressure from free surface and total pressure. Problem 3:
