MONDAY, MAY 9 TH Bring me your quiz corrections if you didn’t turn them in on Friday Grab the lab directions from next to the projector In your notebook, sketch a graph of the temperature of water as you heat it from an ice cube to steam Put time on the x-axis and temperature on the y-axis Do you think the temperature rises steadily (constant slope) or do you think there is more variation than that? Show your answer on your graph.

2. PHASE CHANGE LAB Goggles on (heat + glass!) Careful with hot plates – NO HIGHER THAN MEDIUM! Only use 100 mL beakers with 50 mL of ice You’ll get more accurate data if you don’t let the thermometer touch the beaker Only go as far as a rapid boil – once you’ve reached that, collect three data points, turn off and unplug your hot plate, and come back to class to graph and analyze your data
