3 Place white paper at each chair Give each student a pencil to write name on back of artwork Put a basket of fine tip markers at each table Docent Setup List: Docent Clean up List: ●Make sure names are on back of art ●Place completed artwork in class folder or where you store art ●Wipe down tables, sharpen pencils, refill any items if needed and return to where you found them-Thanks for doing this and leading the lesson! 5 Today’s Lesson Creating a pointillism butterfly piece of artwork after being inspired by artist Georges Seurat Skill Development: Art@Booksin ●To introduce students to the method of Pointillism, and the artwork of Georges Seurat ●To teach students about patience and taking their time to complete a detailed drawing ●To fine tune students' motor skills

6 WHAT IS POINTILLISM? Art@Booksin a technique of neo-impressionist painting using tiny dots of various pure colors, which become blended in the viewer's eye. It was developed by Georges Seurat with the aim of producing a greater degree of luminosity and brilliance of color.

8 Famous Pointillism Artist Georges Seurat (December 2, 1859 - March 29, 1891) was a French painter and draftsman. His large work Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, his most famous painting, altered the direction of modern art by initiating Neo-impressionism, and is one of the icons of 19th century painting.

15 1.Write our name on the back of our paper 1.Have students draw a large butterfly outline with a marker 1.Using the pointillism technique the students just learned they need to make designs for their butterfly Art@Booksin
