The disease is extremely contagious (air born)
Because so many people lived so close to each other large numbers of people became infected in a short period of time
Estimated that 30% of all deaths during the early stages of Industrial Revolution from Tuberculosis

Widespread sickness forced industrial countries to improve sanitary conditions in cities
Edwin Chadwick’s sanitary report brought light to some of the worst sanitary problems
Changes to industrial cities include:
