The first time you log in, you may want to change your password. If you do, write it down so you don’t forget it! You can change your password at any time. To do this, click on MyInfo

The MyInfo page shows you some general information about your profile The is also where you will come to print reports on your progress To change your password, click on the “Profile” tab

Simply type in your new password, and then once more to verify it, and then click the “Update” button Now click on the “Home” link under the Student Menu to return you to the main page

Lets begin an assignment Click on either of the “My Courses” links above

This is your top-tier index to assigned lessons. At this time we’re interested in the “PC & Business Skills” section. Note the “Status” of the Courses on the right…

Breakdown of “PC & Business Skills” courses available At this point, you have to make a decision between the top 4 choices in the list. It is recommended that you choose the Office version that you have installed on your computer in your classroom. If you do know what is installed on your computer, it is recommended that you choose “Microsoft Office XP”. If you are interested in learning another, later, version then you may do that as well. Don’t forget to click your choice! I am going to select “Office XP” to continue.

* You will always want to select the “Prescriptive Training” as it includes both the training and the testing sections These are the different sections under “Office XP” that are available. Notice there Are 3 links per subject – see the note above. We are going to start with the “Microsoft Office Word 2002 Prescriptive Training”

Click on the “Level 1-2-3 Prescriptive Training” and ignore the other listing(s)

Of the three levels: 1Is the “beginner” lesson 2Is the “intermediate” 3Is the “advanced” Remember, these can be taken in any order Let’s take a look at Level 1 (beginner lesson)

Note: ignore the fact it says “Outlook” and not “Word’, this is just an example If this is your first time visiting this particular section, all you will see is the above “Pre-test” You must complete the pre-test to unlock the rest of the lessons. If this is not your first time here, you will see a list of completed lessons as well as a grade for the pre-test (do not worry about your grade for the pre-test, it does not matter) Click on the Pre-test to begin, or click on the lesson where you left off if this is not your first time taking this section. Note: If a new window does not appear, you may have a pop-up blocker enabled. To test if this is true, hold down the “ctrl” key and click the link again. If it works, be sure to turn off your blocker.

Click on “Start Test”, And away we go

The lesson is both aural and visual, turn up your headphones or speakers A few notes on the displayed screen 1.A sliding bar that shows you how far you’ve come and a visual counter on number of pages 2.NEXT page or BACK up one 3.The REAL EXIT BUTTON, do not use the “X” in the upper left. Your work is saved via the REAL BUTTON, it isn’t saved by using the upper left exit, this is also true when taking the tests

From here we can uncover what the objectives are exit from this test begin our first try or continue a previous test Remember the “real” exit button? The continue option will return us to the last unanswered question, which is what we see here. Had I used the screen exit instead the “Continue” would be “Begin”

Let’s click the button beside “True”

A couple items on this page 1 A message box letting us know if it’s correct or not 2 And if we place the mouse over the sliding bar we can see mini-status of our position

At the end of the series we get to see how we’ve done… Minimum passing grade is 80% Perhaps a review of the suggested areas before I try again

Work your way through each lesson. You can re-take any one you like at any time When you’ve completed all of the lessons, a Post-test at the bottom will appear. This is the important one. It works just like the Pre-test, only you must pass with an 85% After you are done with the Post-test you can navigate back through the subject tree and continue on with Level 2, or change to a different section like “Excel” Or your trainer Will tell you what you need to do next.

Let’s pull up a report showing how we’ve done. Return to this page… And click on “My Info”, either one

And let’s pull a report on our courses and grades. If the “statistics” tab isn’t open, click on the tab itself. Clicking the down arrow let’s us chose between our training attempts or the actual testing

Let’s see those that we’ve completed, Within the last 30 days. Select the appropriate entries using the down arrows…

Everything looks good? Click “View Report” if so.

Under the ‘Attempts” column we see how many time I tried The “Status” is either Pass or Fail The “Time” is time spent on the test And the last row shows when we tried it last “Score” is the percentile correct… So, we can print the report and pass to our representative For those in-service points or other incentives
