1 Out into the Water Exodus 14:5-31

2 Deuteronomy 4:32 32 Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day God created human beings on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of?

3 Psalms 77:19 19 Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.

4 Psalms 77:20 20 You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

5 Out into the Water Freedom inflames the Enemy (14:5-9).
5 When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!” (14:5)

6 Exodus 14:6 6 So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him.

7 Exodus 14:7 7 He took six hundred of the best chariots, along with all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them.

8 Exodus 14:8 8 The LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly.

9 Exodus 14:9 9 The Egyptians—all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots, horsemen and troops—pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea near Pi Hahiroth, opposite Baal Zephon.

10 Out into the Water Exposing Unbelief (14:10-12)
10 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the LORD. (14:10)

11 Exodus 14:11 11 They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?

12 Exodus 14:12 12 Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”

13 Luke 22:60 60 Peter replied, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed.

14 Luke 22:61 61 The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.”

15 Luke 22:62 62 And he went outside and wept bitterly.

16 1 Peter 5:5 5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

17 1 Peter 5:6 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

18 1 Peter 5:7 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

19 Out into the Water Despondency Provides a Way (14:13-14).
13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. (14:13)

20 Exodus 14:14 14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (14:14)

21 Out into the Water Reliance on God Shows the Way (14:15-25).
15 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. (14:15)

22 Exodus 14:16 16 Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.

23 Exodus 14:21 21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided,

24 Exodus 14:22 22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.

25 Exodus 14:23 23 The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea.

26 Exodus 14:24 24 During the last watch of the night the LORD looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion.

27 Exodus 14:25 25 He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The LORD is fighting for them against Egypt.”

28 Ezekiel 36:24 24 “‘For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land.

29 Ezekiel 36:25 25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols.

30 Ezekiel 36:26 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

31 Ezekiel 36:27 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

32 Out into the Water Fear Redirected (14:30-31).
30 That day the LORD saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. (14:30)

33 Exodus 14:31 31 And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the LORD displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.
