2 Yes No IEP Should Johnny have the read aloud or audio test accommodation?

3  Is allowed for students with disabilities as specified in the IEP or 504 plan.  Special attention must be given to the IEP/504 plan for specific accommodations. ◦ i.e.  Read the entire test aloud  Have words, questions, or sentences read orally when requested by the student

4  Is allowed for students with disabilities as specified in the IEP or 504 plan.  Students should have instructional experience with audio, such as using audio versions of textbooks or recorded class lectures.  The audio must be used in conjunction with a printed test or Braille test and must be in English.

5  Is only allowed for students with a visual impairment, including blindness, and those students with a specific disability that severely limits or prevents them from decoding text at any level of difficulty as determined by a diagnostic tool/instrument that was administered by a qualified professional.

6  Students with disabilities who are simply having difficulty reading text and/or are reading below grade-level are not allowed the read-aloud accommodation on the statewide Reading assessments.  The requirement to establish eligibility for the read aloud accommodation only applies when it is used for the English: Reading test.

8  Test accommodations should be considered and discussed individually for each assessment required for a student’s grade level or course. They should not be broadly assigned across all assessments.  Accommodations may not be used solely during assessments. Students must be provided selected accommodations during instructional periods that necessitate their use.
