1 Northern Virginia Hospital Alliance (NVHA) Overview  Non-profit organization formed in the wake of 9/11 terrorist attacks for the purpose of improving hospital emergency preparedness and coordination within the 13 hospitals of Northern Virginia.  Consists of a Governing Board of Hospital Executives.  Mutual Aid Agreement to coordinate resources, manpower and preparedness activities in response to Mass Casualty Incidents.

2 Virginia Hospital Disaster Regions Overview Virginia Healthcare & Hospital Association (VHHA) and VDH has divided Virginia into 6 hospital regions for the purpose of coordination, disaster preparedness, and grant management. 1. Central (Richmond area) 2. Eastern (Hampton Roads area) 3. Far Southwest (Roanoke area) 4. Near southwest (Tazwell area) 5. Northern (Metropolitan DC area) 6. Northwest (Charlottesville area)

5 Regional Healthcare Coordinating Center (RHCC) Overview  Each hospital disaster region has: A Regional Hospital Coordinator (Kevin Harlen) Representitive(s) on the VHHA Hospital Emergency Management Committee (HEMC) At least one Regional Healthcare Coordinating Center (RHCC)  Northern Virginia has a primary and a back-up RHCC: INOVA eICU, Falls Church Prince William Hospital, Manassas

7 Primary RHCC Responsibilities  Coordination between hospitals and Virginia Department of Health; Virginia Emergency Operations Center (VEOC); other regional RHCCs  Coordination / Communication between hospitals and local Fire / EMS & Public Health  Information Collection & Dissemination, including: Hospital Status / Bed Availability Service Availability (bed status / availability)  Patient Movement / Transfer Coordination  Clinical Supply / Resource Logistics  Aggregate Patient Tracking  SNS Request Coordination
