2 Biologists group organisms according to the characteristics they share in order to answer these 3 questions: 1. How many known species are there? 2. What are the defining characteristics of each species? 3. What are the relationships between these species?

4 Branching Diagrams Shows similarities and differences between organisms.

5 Kingdom- largest and most general group Phylum Class Order Family Genus Species- smallest/closely related group.
