2. Do you think “born again” is a good catchphrase of what it means to be a Christian? If not, what would be more palatable to non- Christians in today’s culture? Should it matter?

3. Read John 3:1-9. When does one become born again? What part does God have in this work of being born again? The individual’s role? {see John 6:44, 10:27; Rom 6:4-9, 10:9-10; 1John 1:9}

4. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17. Explain in your own words when God made you a ‘new creation.’ How has the ‘old’ gone and the ‘new’ come in your personal experience?

5. According to Romans 6:4-7 what happens to the ‘old self’ of a person who has been born again? Why is this an important truth for you to know?

6. How do you overcome the desires of the pesky ‘old self’ that keep creeping up daily? What does the Holy Spirit do to help you? {See Romans 6:11-14; 1 Corinthians 10:13; John 17:17; James 4:7-8}

7. Read Ephesians 4:22- 32. What areas mentioned in this passage is the Holy Spirit convicting you of? What steps do you need to take in order to begin to ‘put on’ the ‘new self’ in these areas?
