3 FFA Alumni Initiative Our Goal: An FFA Alumni Chapter helping to support each local program!

4 Program Update Information needed this fall…. –Fall Class Enrollment Forms –Program of Work –Food Processing Reports –Monthly Reports –Banquet Proposals—by Thursday –POA/Budgets Post on portal

5 New Enrollment Forms Will help us collect accurate data Show the number in each course/pathway Will provide SAE/FFA data Points to remember –Each teacher completes and submits form (in-school & YF) –Last name comma first name –Submit Oct. 15, save copy and update and resubmit April 1 to include 2 nd semester data. –Middle School: Submit for each grading period –Found on region portal: www.southregionaged.orgwww.southregionaged.org

6 Program Updates Budget –Governor’s office has requested a 2% freeze. –Our plan of action Accountability –Vitally important –Our goal: 100% of South Region teachers meeting all standards –Let us know how we can help!

7 Program Updates Credentialing –FFA members competing in CDEs will have opportunity to earn a credential in all tech. area CDEs. –For this year, must score 50% or higher of total possible points. –This does not change CDE procedures (only one team/individual from each chapter.

12 GYFA Membership State 2011 Membership: 3,732 33 Chapters had membership increase! Continue to promote Junior Membership and Spousal discount.

14 FFA Update – Fall 2011 New Membership Roster System – Ag Career Network (ACN) will open early September – Each teacher will need a MyFFA login to use the site FFA Dues are $11 for 2011-2012 – State dues = $4 – National dues = $7 – Chapters who Affiliate should not collect dues from students – FFA rosters and payment are due in the State FFA Office by October 15 AET Online recordkeeping system – Free for all Georgia chapters in 2011-2012 – Log on to www.theaet.comwww.theaet.com – Use your chapter number (GA????) as your ID and password to start your account – AET will generate FFA award/degree applications

15 FFA Update – Fall 2011 84 th National FFA Convention (Oct 19-22, 2011) – Online registration is open (go to www.ffa.org)www.ffa.org – Registration prices $40 per person through early online & in an FFA hotel $60 per person through early online NOT in an FFA hotel $70 per person if you register onsite in Indy – Housing State block at the Sheraton downtown (very few rooms remain!) National Housing block is open – Georgia recognition 14 national proficiency finalists 10 national 3-Star; and 16 national 2-Star chapters 2 national Agriscience Student of the Year finalists An Agriscience Teacher of the Year finalist (Sara Clark, Sonoraville) 55 American Degree recipients

16 FFA Update – Fall 2011 Applications and Award Guidelines – CDE guidelines are new (national & state) – National Chapter & Agriscience guidelines/applications are new for 2011-2012 – Proficiency & American Degree applications will be the same for 2012! (New applications held until 2013) State Convention Registration – $250 per chapter – That fee covers all attendees from a chapter (students, 1-day passes, parents, administrators, etc….) – Online registration (numbers) and payment due April 1. 39 FLORAL DESIGN Area CDE –Seniors will complete one design, take a 25 question written exam, and complete an identification quiz of 25 items. –Possible arrangements for seniors could include bridal or attendant bouquet (hand-tied or nosegay); corsage; or circular, triangular or line arrangement. –30 minutes for the design, 25 minutes for exam and 25 minutes for quiz. –Juniors will complete two designs. –Possible arrangements for juniors could include Corsage, Boutonniere, Bud Vase, or a 9 flower round arrangement (greenery, 9 carnations and filler material). –30 minutes allowed for each design.
