3 Survey Methodology An email invitation to complete the online survey was sent to 827 national and 1,879 local council employees on July 5, 2012. The survey closed on July 24, 2012 with 612 national council employees responding, resulting in a response rate of 74.0 percent and 1,163 local council employees responding, resulting in a response rate of 61.2 percent.

5 National Council Job Satisfaction (84.3%) I have the opportunity to do what I do best every day. The mission/purpose of the BSA makes me feel my job is important. My opinions seem to count. I am paid fairly for the work I do. My manager builds a sense of belonging in my department or team. Managers in the BSA live and honor the Scout Oath and Law. My supervisor allows me to maintain a good work/life balance. In the last 7 days, I have received recognition or praise. My supervisor allows me to maintain a good work/life balance. Managers in the BSA practice authentic leadership. The mission/purpose of the BSA makes me feel my job is important. Someone at work encourages my development. Managers in the BSA live and honor the Scout Oath and Law. In the last 7 days, I have received recognition or praise. My supervisor, or someone at work seems to care about me as a person. The cost of my benefits package is a good value for the money.
