1 Ethel Bailey Close – Update Report Introduction In 2006, the Department of Health (DoH) White Paper ‘Our Health, Our Care, Our Say,’ said that all NHS Campus buildings would close by 2010. The definition of an NHS Campus is: “A campus is a service that is NHS provided long- term care in conjunction with NHS ownership/management of housing; commissioned by the NHS; and Includes people who have been in assessment and treatment beds for more than 12 months, who are not compulsorily detained or undergoing a recognised and validated treatment programme.” The services at Ethel Bailey Close and Oak Glade have now closed, most people moved out between October and November. 38 people moved out in 11 weeks. Most people have moved with 2 or 3 other people into their own bungalows. People have moved into ‘Supported Living,’ and will get support from staff who are not employed by the Trust. The Trust is part of a project group led by Surrey County Council. People who use services sit on the project group and they receive support from Advocates. There is also a Speak Up Group that is for people who use services. Family carers also sit on the project group, and there is also another relatives group. 2011

2 Ethel Bailey Close – Update Report What is happening now? The project group is still meeting to make sure that peoples moves have gone well. People are also having reviews to make sure that their new home is right for them. At the reviews Surrey County Council will check that people are doing things that are in their Person Centred Plans. A team of “Quality Checkers” will also check the new services are right for people. The project group will also write a report looking at how well the project went. This will show anything that we could have planned better. It will also show the things that went well. Although people have moved out of Oak Glade and Ethel Bailey Close, The short break services at 4 Ethel Bailey Close (Jasmine House) are still open. The Trust does not have any plans to close these services.

3 Social Care Change Programme – Update Report The Social Care Change Programme meant that approximately 60 of the Trusts residential homes are now closed or managed by non-NHS organisations. Half of the homes closed, and half were transferred. The Social Care Change Programme has now finished. There are no more transfers planned. Where people have recently moved, a group of “Quality Checkers” including people who have a learning disability are still visiting people in their new homes to make sure that the move has gone well. As the Trust is a Health and Social Care Foundation Trust we still have some residential homes for people. These are: Sheilings Hillcroft Redstone House Courthill House Rosewood
