Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Summer Camp 2011 targets  A structure for the MASP 2012 with tactics for “Make it Happen” and the “Neural System of Society”.  A set-up for the Research Agenda 2012 reflecting the new SRA 2011  An actionable plan for innovation centered around the Working Groups  A structure for AWP 2012 with industrial priorities, roadmap and evaluation criteria 4

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Innovation 5

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Make it happen The differentiators  ARTEMIS is an industry lead initiative that aims to sustain the Innovation Environment

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Innovation breakout session Purpose: to provide an additional boost for selected WG’s to complete the ARTEMIS “flower” Themes:  Standardisation  SME involvement  Education & Training  Repository 7

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Topics for discussion:  Brainstorm to develop ideas & priorities for future activities of the WG  Discuss the implications of the “Make it Happen” chapter of the new SRA2011 for the WG.  How to link with and tap into projects and their innovation activities?  Inventorize which support the WG needs  Discuss cooperation with other initiatives or programmes (KET, EIT ETP?)  Target is a plan with actionable items, input for discussion in Steering Board Workshop 8

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Breakout session “Innovation” Working Groups are the key instruments that make ARTEMIS “more than just another funding programme”. They are “The Differentiators”. 9

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Breakout session “Innovation”  WG Standardisation: Level 1: room: 1  chair: Josef Affenzeller & Laila Gide  WG SME involvement: Level 1: room 3  chair: Pauli Kuosmanen  WG Education & Training: Level 1: room 4  chair: Erwin Schoitsch  WG Repository: Level 1: room 5  chair: Petri Liuha 10

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Multi-Annual Strategic Plan / Research Agenda 11

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association The Rationale from the SRA 2011  Embedded Systems become the ‘Neural System’ of society  Embedded Systems are Everywhere pervading all market sectors  Value of products is derived from Embedded Systems. Embedded Systems market growth is over 10%  Greater public awareness is raising expectations and concerns 12

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association The Rationale  Higher systems complexity due to interoperating applications from multiple domains over open networks  Semantic interoperability is needed so users may use different languages of different domains and legacies  Embedded systems technology are contributing to tackle societal challenges by creating smart environments, smarter services, increased safety, and enhanced productivity 13

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association ARTEMIS Research Priorities ARTEMIS highlights two sets of research objective:  Technical solutions for developing pre- competitive Industrial priorities in:  Reference designs and architectures  Seamless connectivity and interoperability  Design methods and tools  Research into scientific foundations and technology

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association ARTEMIS Research Priorities Technology domains and challenges  Major topics *  Open Internet  Robustness, autonomy and mixed critical systems  Real life experiments in Living labs  Embedded System Design and Architecture  Systems of systems  Semantic interoperability  Certification for mixed criticality & modular certification  Safety, security,  Energy consumption 15 *[selected from the document]

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Multi-Annual Strategic Plan/ Research Agenda breakout Themes:  Innovation topics of SRA2011 in MASP  Capture headlines of WG plans in MASP.  What is the impact of “Neural System of Society” vision in SRA on the Research Agenda? Add a roadmap to the RA?  Structure MASP and positioning to ITEA, ENIAC, CATRENE, EPoSS, integrate Societal Challenges 16

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Annual Work Programme 18

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Annual Work Programme 2012  Used by consortia to write project proposals  Used by experts to judge project proposals  Therefore “shapes” the ARTEMIS-JU programme Key-topics from discussions on the AWP:  Top-down programme, ASP coverage, SRA matrix  What are the strategic choices of industry?  Call differentiation  Promote SME participation in consortia 19

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Annual Work Programme 2012 breakout Three breakout sessions:  Theme 1: Revision of Industrial Priorities  Theme 2: Selection and eligibility criteria  Theme 3: Call differentiation and roadmapping 20

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Breakout session: Annual Work Programme 2012  Group Red: Chair, Laila Gide, Room: 1  Group Blue: Chair Tatu Koljonen, Room: 3  Group Green: Chair Ad ten Berg, Room: 4 21

Title of presentation ARTEMIS Industry Association Break-out sessions  Each chair may appoint a rapporteur.  Each break-out is free to choose its approach for the discussion  “yellow notes” are available for groups that want to use a meta-plan approach.  All groups are asked to deliver their output in PowerPoint on a USB stick.  The rapporteur (or chair) presents the break-out outcomes in the plenary session. 22
