3 www.company.com Questioning, Inquiry and Reasoning Psychologist Irving Sigel (1922-2006) theorized that the brain responds to questions in ways that influence an individual’s social, emotional, and cognitive development. Questions can create challenges to inspire learning. Questions can find out what students know, discover what they feel, understand what they need, determine how they think, and then stimulate and motivate students to ask their own questions. In this section, you will review resources on questioning and inquiry. Using the Elements of Reasoning strategy, you will create challenging questions to guide a unit of instruction that you will teach in the future. This assignment will inform the major assignment, the Problem- Based Learning Project.
