5. In Class Project- will be displayed in hall see Project “Compare Communities” on pg. 67 Each student will receive data collected for a different country. No one will have the same country. You will create data displays, write a summary description of your country’s data and then compare and contrast your country with a partner’s country, using values like mean, median or range (or others). Together with your partner, you will present your data displays, your written descriptions and a written explanation of how each country might use your graphs to make decisions on posters!

6. PART 1: individually create two well done data displays on graph paper (1 per page) to best show the information about: 1) your country’s age distribution 2) your country’s population of main cities

7. PART 2: When you are finished your two data displays and a summary description of your country’s data and I have given you the ok, you will be matched with someone else in the class. Together, you will COMPARE and CONTRAST your two country’s data. PROJECT Grade: 2 parts– individual grade partner- poster grade Attractiveness, Neatness, Accuracy, Writing- concise and well written paragraphs using math vocabulary

8. grading scale Adv (100%): work/ poster is attractive, neatly done, data displays are done correctly, well written paragraphs using math vocabulary Com(89%): minor errors or not as well done (see above) Par (78%): most parts done with some errors(see above) IP(65%): valid attempt was made to complete the project but with some major errors or parts missing LE (50%): some effort but not accurate or ½ done

10. 1) Individually- create a histogram on one sheet of graph paper for your country’s age vs. population see section 1.4 and class notes 2) Individually- create a bar graph on one sheet of graph paper of the population of major cities in your country 3) Individually- Write a summary description on notebook paper about your country’s population using as many math words as you can. When you finish, raise your hand and I will check your work. I will match you with a partner.

11. Work with your partner to create a poster: 1) include all four data displays, 2 for each country 2) Compare and contrast your two countries using values like mean, median, minimum, maximum and range. 3) Write a description about how you think someone in each country could use your graphs to make decisions.
