INTRODUCTION You are getting ready to go on a trip around the world to see the 5 most popular bears. You will need to know what country the bears live in so you know where to go and how to dress when you get there. On this expedition you will be discovering more and more information on these 5 types of bears. You may want to pet one of the bears, but you want to make sure that the one you decide to pet is the type that is the most friendly of the 5 bear types. http://youtu.be/jiQ1A9EELa0http://youtu.be/jiQ1A9EELa0 (Friendly Grizzly Bear)

BE A BEAR SPECIALIST -The class will split up into groups of 4. -Each group will be given a type of bear to do their research on.  The groups will pick from a list of the top 5 most well known bears:  They then will find the country in which they live, and how to accommodate to the weather in that specific country.  Each group will find out how each bear meets their physical needs: sleeping, and eating.

PROCESS -Each individual in the group will have their own responsibility.  Group member 1: The Artist  Group Member 2: Locating the geography of the bear.  Group Member 3: What the bear looks like.  Group Member 4: Sleeping and eating habits of the bear.

TASK Each group will give a presentation presenting the information they obtained on their bear. They presentation will start with the Artist drawing a picture for the class to try and guess what kind of bear that group did research on. After identifying the bear being spoken about the other group member will present their individual information that they researched on that bear. Doing this will provide the class with additional research on all of the 5 most popular types of bears.

ONCE THE INFORMATION IS COLLECTED The whole class will have a good understanding on the 5 main types of bears.

WHAT TO THINK ABOUT FOR LATER…. 1.Aside from the 5 types of bears studied in class, what are some other types that have not been discussed? 2.In your opinion, what is the most unique fact that you have learned about bears ? 3.What animal do you believe it the closest, in relation to appearance, to the bear? 4.What is another animal that you would like to go on a voyage to discover different things about? 5.The next activity would be to discover different facts of a different animal with the same concepts that were issued when discovering about the bear.
