9 Technical/Practical Takeaways Optimization Techniques SID rename technique for SAS migration to new Oracle instance. Further improve the speed of data retrieval through optimized SQL queries. Review legacy reporting scripts to tune and improve. Utilize Oracle SQL Developer to run explain plans to tune and optimize SQL used for SAS data warehouse jobs. Maximize in-database processing to leverage the compute power of Supercluster and free up SAS compute resources. Initiate logging at each level to track and improve latency from sender to receiver and back again. 10 Presenter Biography Alejandro Farias is a Financial Analyst in the Planning, Analysis, and Reporting section in the Administrative Resources Division at Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). He has a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University. Over the last 5 years, Mr. Farias was instrumental in the design, architecture and implementation of SAS Business Intelligence (BI) tools and is experienced with data techniques for extracting, cleaning, conforming and delivering data to end-users. He is proficient in SQL and is versed in SQL tuning. Mr. Farias was awarded the 2013 Employee Recognition Award for Innovation at TPWD for his work on developing new methods for financial analytics, reporting, reconciliation and training. Mr. Farias also serves as a team member on the License Utilization and Revenue Enhancement System project at TPWD.
