Tennessee SPI Objective: Interpret and translate data into a table, graph, or diagram. Essential Questions 1) What are some effective strategies to help me correctly interpret data from tables, charts, and graphs? 2) What are the specific purposes of a table, circle graph, line graph, and a bar graph? Check for Understanding Examine a table, a pie chart, a line graph, and a bar graph. A) Answer this: What key information (data) is displayed in the table, pie chart, line graph, and bar graph? B) Answer this: What patterns or trends do you see? C) Write a multiple-choice question for each where the reader will have to carefully analyze the data in the table, chart, and graphs. Notes SPI 0807.Inq.3: Interpret Data Date Instructions for Students 1) Make sure you view this presentation in slideshow mode. 2) You can find instructions about how to do this by doing a Google search or by searching YouTube. 3) After you have it in slideshow mode, press the right-arrow keyboard button to advance through the presentation. 4) If you need help, please communicate with your teacher.

The total amount should equal 100%. …are circular charts divided into sectors. Works well for comparing 6 or fewer items, but more than six items becomes difficult to view and interpret.

SPI 0807.Inq.3: (Interpret Data) Notes Different types of charts, tables, and graphs Science Bar Graph Bar graphs are used to compare items or facts. The bars provide a visual display for comparing quantities in different categories Bar graphs help us to see relationships quickly.
8
Bar Graph: Example Example: A survey of student's favorite after-school activities was conducted at school. This table shows the results The data is not changing over time, so a line graph would NOT be best for displaying this data. A bar graph is better.
