New rules Set system Recurve vs. Compound

Set system The winner of the match is decided by the number of points accumulated by each archer on the basis of sets won, tied or lost. An archer gets 2 points for a won set. An archer gets 1 point for a tied set. An archer gets no points for a lost set.

Set system Both for the compound and the recurve categories. – Difference in terms of what a set consists of for each type of bow. Recurve: Set won by the total number of points with the full 122 cm target at 70 meters (also valid for compound between April 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011). Compound: Set won by the total number of hits with a 10 cm hit/miss yellow target at 50 meters (from April 1, 2011)

Recurve (and compound until March 31, 2011) Up to three (3) sets of six (6) arrows (1/48 to 1/8 Elimination Round). 4 set points will be necessary to win a match. The first archer to reach 4 points (or 5) will be the winner.

The match may go to a ONE-ARROW CLOSEST TO THE CENTER SHOOT-OFF if the archers are tied in the number of set points achieved at the end of the third set (3-3). The winner of the shoot-off will receive one extra point. A match will conclude with a 4-3 set-point score after a shoot-off.

Shoot -offs Shoot – offs to decide the entrance to the elimination round will consist in a single arrow closest to the center.

Possible scenarios in six arrow sets After the second set. – Archer A: 4 points Archer B: 0 points – Archer A: 3 points Archer B: 1 point – Archer A: 2 points Archer B: 2 points After the third set. – Archer A: 5 points Archer B: 1 point – Archer A: 4 points Archer B: 2 points – Archer A: 3 points Archer B: 3 points (shoot-off)

Byes Archers with a bye in the first round may be allowed to shoot (without scoring) on their own target, but only during the first two sets (as if they had won 4-0).

Recurve (and compound until March 31, 2011) Up to five (5) sets of three (3) arrows (1/4 to medal matches) 6 set points will be necessary to win a match. The first archer to reach 6 points (or 7) will be the winner.

The match will finish with the fourth set if one of the archers reaches a total of 6 or 7 points after this set. The match may go to the fifth set if no archer was able to achieve 6 points in the first four sets. The match will finish with the fifth set if one of the archers reaches a total of 6 or 7 points after this set.

The match may go to a ONE-ARROW CLOSEST TO THE CENTER SHOOT-OFF if the archers are tied in the number of set points achieved at the end of the fifth set. Order of shooting for matches with alternate shooting depends on set point total.

Possible scenarios in three arrow sets After the second set. – Archer A: 4 points Archer B: 0 points – Archer A: 3 points Archer B: 1 point – Archer A: 2 points Archer B: 2 points After the third set. – Archer A: 6 points Archer B: 0 points – Archer A: 5 points Archer B: 1 point – Archer A: 4 points Archer B: 2 points – Archer A: 3 points Archer B: 3 points

After the fourth set. – Archer A: 7 points Archer B: 1 point – Archer A: 6 points Archer B: 2 points – Archer A: 5 points Archer B: 3 points – Archer A: 4 points Archer B: 4 points After the fifth set. – Archer A: 7 points Archer B: 3 points – Archer A: 6 points Archer B: 4 points – Archer A: 5 points Archer B: 5 points (shoot-off)

Team Round - Recurve The rules for the team round in the recurve categories have not changed. We will continue to shoot 24 arrows and the team with the highest total arrows score will be the winner.

7.6.6.2 Athletes eliminated in the ¼ final will be ranked by number of set points won, and if tied by the number of cumulative points shot in the last match. If still tied they will be declared tied.

New Pairing Chart for WCH (and possibly for World Cups) Top 104 archers qualify for match play. (See appendix 1) Top 8 archers in the ranking round advance without shooting in the 1/48 and 1/24 Rounds.

BE AWARE OF THIS: There are many more shoot-offs in which it is necessary to measure the distance to the center. Make sure you carry a measuring device with you all the time. The order of shooting in individual matches with alternation depends on the total of set points.

Mixed Team

Team: a woman and a man in the same division (recurve or compound). 16 arrow matches. Four ends of 4 arrows (2 arrows per archer) 80 seconds per end. The rest of the rules are the same as for the ordinary team round.
