Bobby Rush (D-IL 1) Illinois District 1: Chicago’s South Side, Southwest Suburbs Incumbent Rep Bobby Rush (D) is facing a challenge from Alderman Howard Brookins, who has called for fresh representation in the district Brookins has criticized Rush’s attendance in the House and notably earned the backing of state House Speaker Michael Madigan Rush is favored to win his primary and a 13 th term – he has consistently beat back primary challenges, including his 2000 race against then-state Sen. Barack Obama Alderman Howard Brookins, Ward 21 Illinois District 8: Chicago’s Northwest Suburbs: Schaumburg (Open Seat) Rep. Tammy Duckworth’s Senate bid opens up a solidly Democratic seat that has three primary hopefuls: Former State Deputy Treasurer Raja Krishnamoorthi, State Sen. Michael Noland and Villa Park Village President Deborah Bullwinkel. Tim Derickson and State Sen. Bill Beagle (aligned with the establishment), and businessman Warren Davidson, who is backed by the Club for Growth Republicans will in the special election to pick who will serve the rest of Boehner’s term, and in the primary to pick who will serve the full term – the same candidate is likely to win both Ohio District 14: Northeast Ohio – Ashtabula Matt Lynch, a tea party favorite and 2014 challenger, is attempting to unseat incumbent David Joyce (R) Joyce took the challenge seriously and vastly outspent the Lynch $466,000 to $38,000 from Jan 1 to Feb 24 The Democrats do not have a strong candidate running, so the winner of the GOP primary will likely be elected in November John Shimkus (R-IL 15) Kyle McCarter Tim Derickso n Bill Beagl e David Joyce (R-OH 14) Matt Lynch Warren Davidson
